Established in 1898, located in the south of Beijing, Peking University is China’s first national university. Peking University live-science College was once Peking University’s biology department (established in 1925). Currently, 26 teachers and students of the college have become academicians for the Chinese Academy of Science and Engineering. Presently the college has 6 departments, 5 centers, 2 institutes, 2 national laboratories, 2 national bases and 5 national academies. The medicine department of Peking University was established Oct. 26th, 1912 and is the first western medicine national school launched by China. The medicine department of Peking University specializes in teaching, researching and medical care, with 20 core subjects, 1 national laboratory and 10 ministerial laboratories.

The institute is the largest integrated laboratory animal science research institute in China. The institute includes 6 professional laboratories, including: laboratory animal pathology; microbiology; heredity and breeding; environment nutrition; gnotobiotes animals; and engineering technology; as well as 2 breeding farms for rodents and primates. It is an affiliate of Chinese Association of Laboratory Animals and the Laboratory Animal Committee of Health Ministry.
NICPBP (National Institute for the Control of Pharmaceutical and Biological Products)
NICPBP is a subordinate organization of the State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA). Established in 1950, it is the supreme statutory authority for national pharmaceutical and biological inspection and arbitration. It has a comprehensive national pharmaceutical, biological products and medical instruments quality-inspection institute, with responsibilities for inspection, research, teaching and standardization.
National Institute for Viral Disease Control and Prevention
The National Institute is for Viral Disease Control and Prevention a national professional disease control and prevention institute under the lead of Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC). Its main functions are to: provide scientific basics for public laws, codes, regulations, policies, standards, criterion, counter plans and strategies for viral disease control and prevention. Additionally, it conducts studies on control and measurement strategies; provides the government with accurate, scientific, complete and timely viral disease surveillance; pandemic information and advice; conducts surveys; and responds to severe diseases in field.
National Institute for Infectious Disease Control and Prevention
National Institute for Infectious Disease Control and Prevention is a national professional infectious disease control and prevention institute under the lead of the China CDC. It is the direction center for national infectious disease control and prevention. Its main functions are to: conduct surveillance on infectious diseases; collect, analyze and notify the CDC about the disease infections; respond to severe infectious diseases, epidemics and pandemics; emergent diseases and other emergencies.
